Azure DevOps Pipelines - YAML for releases
Azure DevOps Pipelines now allows you to use YAML pipelines to build and release your code. The YAML syntax method should be utilised for all new pipelines because it allows you to store everything as code (benefits include the ability to rollback, peer reviews, history etc).
If you want to use the YAML syntax to build & release your code, you only need to use the ‘Pipelines’ feature within Azure DevOps Pipelines (you won’t ever have to open the ‘Releases’ menu item; ‘Releases’ uses the classic editor)
Microsoft should update the new menu to look like this (just so everyone knows that the ‘Releases’ feature is not required for new Pipelines that want to use the YAML syntax):
